Dr. Kathrin Trattner is a founding member of GeNet-ISMRC.
Kathrin Trattner studierte Religionswissenschaft und Germanistik an der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz. Im März 2020 schloss sie ihr Doktoratsstudium der Religionswissenschaft ab. In ihrer Dissertation beschäftigte sie sich aus intersektionaler Perspektive mit der Frage, wie Feinde in First-Person-Shootern mit Kriegssettings konstruiert werden. Ihre primären Forschungsinteressen liegen im Bereich Religion, Kultur und digitale Medien, insbesondere Gaming. Ihr besonderes Interesse gilt dabei der Wechselwirkung von Religion als Identitätsmarker und Zuschreibung mit anderen sozialen Kategorisierungen wie Gender, Ethnizität und sozialer Klasse. Kathrin Trattner ist seit März 2022 mit ihrem durch die Zentrale Forschungsförderung geförderten Postdoc Projekt „Gaming the Nation: An Intersectional Investigation of Nation, Identity, and Video Gaming“ an der Universität Bremen beschäftigt.

Kathrin Trattner studied Religious Studies and German Philology at the University of Graz. She finished her doctoral studies in Religious Studies in March 2020. In her dissertation, she investigated the construction of enemies in first-person-shooter video games with war settings from an intersectional perspective. Her primary research interests are religion, culture, and digital media, in particular video gaming. She is particularly interested in the interplay between religion as an identity marker and ascription with other social categorizations such as gender, ethnicity, or class. Kathrin Trattner joined the University of Bremen in March 2022 with her postdoctoral project “Gaming the Nation: An Intersectional Investigation of Nation, Identity, and Video Gaming”, funded by the Central Research Development Fund.
